Health is the result of the interaction of different factors:
Our genes determine some of the characteristics of our body and personality.
Some of these genes are recessives and other are dominants. They determine the color of our eyes, the color of our skin, size, body shape , predisposition to some diseases.
Some genes can be activated by environmental factors, lifestyle and / or nutrition.
For example, if a person has a genetic predisposition for diabetes, if she / he has good health habits , good nutrition ,sleeps well, can relieve stress effectively, this person probably will never develop diabetes.
But in other cases, an inadequate nutrition, or inappropriate lifestyle or some big stress in her life, can trigger the disease.
The same thing can happen with obesity, heart disease and cancer.
Another example, a person that has genetic predisposition to develop cancer, if she has a good lifestyle , a good nutrition , but lives in an environment that has pollutants that are carcinogenic, can develop cancer, but, because her/his nutrition is adequate and her lifestyle too, this cancer will be developed maybe at later age if it is develop.
Our thoughts and emotions affect our bodies too, a person that had a big stress at her / his job, or a family relationship on the rocks can relieve this negatives emotions in different ways: some people meditate, or do yoga, others can avoid to think about that going to the gym or the movie to see a comedy or a suspense movie that will provoke stronger feelings, to cover the bad feelings some of the momentarily, other people overeat, some others will write about their feelings and even write a novel that can make them best selling authors or at least calm them down. Everybody have different reactions to different events.
Our physical body interacts with our emotional side and the spiritual side of us to create a feeling of harmony or discomfort; our believes, emotion and actions will create our life . The harmonic interactions of our being and environment will create good health. All of these is in constant movement : interaction , adaptation, harmony, disharmony.
The ideal state of health will come with the interaction of a good set of genes, a good environment , a good core of inner strength ,believes and values , the prevalence of good and positive emotions , a good lifestyle and a good nutrition.
